Barbara Schett, ranked 20, won her first professional title at Palermo, Italy, in 1996, but took three more years to crack the upper echelons of the women's game. In 1999, she scored wins over top-five players Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario and Jana Novotna en route to the semi-finals of Sydney and Hamburg. At Wimbledon, she reached the last 16, losing to eventual champion Lindsay Davenport, and is now ranked 7 in the world. She recently beat No 2 Venus Williams in the French Open.

Austrian-born Barbara, 25, has been voted Most Beautiful Tennis Player and is no stranger to modelling, but the Etro style was quite new to her: "It's quite wild. I'm quite understated, elegant and not so crazy. But I found it interesting to see myself in a look I've never tried before." Barbara's body is super-toned but with such athleticism come muscles and she has a problem finding trousers to fit. "Often I can't find any which will pull up over my thighs!" she says. Sponsored by Adidas, she takes care with her appearance on court as well as off.
